The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of those exciting new categories that enables companies to utilize machine-to-machine (M2M) communication to automate, monitor and manage their business in real- time for greater operating efficiency, insight and cost savings.

Technology has been transforming the way businesses operate and communicate for years, and with the advancement of cloud-based solutions, the pervasiveness of high-speed LTE mobile networks, technology and devices, coupled with the advancement in artificial intelligence, we are entering what has been referred to as the Age of Intelligence.

Many industries have been developing and using IoT solutions, including the manufacturing, transportation and logistics, food production/food processing, oil and gas, construction, and smart city automation sectors.

As a wireless solutions business dealer and expert in this area, Preston Mobility has launched a new IoT – Cloud Solutions Division, headed by Anthony Chien, to better educate businesses on IoT and Cloud Solutions, and help them navigate the plethora of solutions available.

"We are excited to have Anthony join our team and drive this business unit. He brings extensive experience in software-as-a-service (SaaS), and cloud-based solutions,” commented Darelle Mitchell, CEO of Preston Mobility. “His passion, curiosity and knowledge of leading-edge technology solutions in the marketplace across a wide range of industries makes him a terrific partner for our team, customers and any organization exploring the IoT environment or cloud solutions.”

“IoT is the next evolution of network connectivity, automation and digitization to enable us to achieve more,” commented Anthony Chien, Director of IoT and Cloud Solutions, “But because there is so much potential when it comes to applying IoT, the challenge for many organizations is outlining and prioritizing specific business use cases. And that’s where I come in.”

Continues Chien, “I look forward to partnering with organizations and helping them apply IOT to achieve real business, operational and financial results. The support of the Preston Mobility team and Bell means that we are strongly positioned to help any organization leverage IoT”

According to the IDC, the rise of intelligent devices is staggering. IDC estimates that the number of sensors in use is in the trillions. There were 10.3 billion connected intelligent systems in 2014, growing to 29.5 billion by 2020.
