We would like to welcome you to take a glimpse into the lives of some of our favourite people. They make up Preston Mobility and we are excited to introduce you to them.
We are pleased to introduce you to Nicole Bryant, our Business Development Manager for Prince George and the Northern Interior. Nicole has a diverse business background which included roles in marketing, and as a Territory Manager, Operations Management and Project Coordinator. We knew she was the perfect fit to support our expansion and Clients in Northern BC.
I sat down with Nicole for some fun Q&A to share a bit more about herself and her role at Preston.
BP: How were you introduced to Preston Mobility, and what made you decide to join the company?
NB: I was contacted by a recruiter who got me interested in hearing more about the company and opportunity. After meeting with Darelle Mitchell, the CEO of Preston, I saw how passionate he was about the company, what he had put into building his business model, and how his corporate culture matched my values. This, and hearing that he had grown up in Prince George, and still has ties to the area all influenced my decision to make a move and join the Team.
BP: As a Business Development Manager responsible for the Prince George and the Northern Interior, what is your role?
NB: On a high level, my focus is to grow our B2B business in Northern BC by introducing wireless solutions that can bring cost savings, efficiencies and value to businesses. Beyond helping business save money on their wireless, we have an exciting portfolio of solutions that are very impactful. We take a consultative approach, focussing on understanding the challenges businesses have, and helping educate them on various solutions that can enable them to achieve their goals. The old saying “You don’t know what you don’t know” really applies. Seeing the look of relief on a business owner or managers face when I have presented a solution to something that they had no idea about, is a very rewarding feeling.
BP: What excites you about the wireless industry?
NB: I am excited by how dynamic and innovative the industry is. It is constantly changing and growing. Businesses are becoming more and more reliant on wireless solutions, and there is always something new to learn and new ways to help a business operate on a whole different level. It keeps me engaged and in turn, allows me to develop better working relationships with my customer base.
BP: What would your customers or people you have worked with say about you?
NB: That I am hardworking, dedicated and reliable. I am a systems thinker and problem solver, and have the ability to think outside the box, to be creative in my approach. I have had customers follow me in the roles I have been in because they like to work with me… and despite all the nerdy stuff, I am fun too!
BP: Switching gears to personal stuff. What do you like to do in your spare time outside of work?
NB: If I am not at work, I am either with my family or at the gym, both bring me joy and a sense of accomplishment. Time spent in the gym helps me mentally prepare for challenges, I look to my coach to push me outside of my comfort zone daily and likewise, it energizes me to constantly grow professionally.
BP: On a typical weekend, where might we find you?
NB: During the summer months I will either be enjoying our beautiful backyard or at the lake with my family. In the winter months, I am usually home working on projects or relaxing, indulging in comic book based movies… I’m all about the Batman!
BP: I also grew up in Prince George. It’s changed a lot over the years… Care to share a tip on what’s your favourite restaurant, so I can visit the next time I am up?
NB: We have so many great restaurants here and I love food!! Twisted Cork and Cimo’s are a few of my favourites!
BP: Favorite Vacation Destination?
NB: My favourite spot so far has been Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. There is still so much of the world I look forward to seeing though.
BP: Best Advice you have received?
NB: Always re-read your emails before sending. Sounds like common sense, but sometimes first replies can contain more of an emotional response, especially when the subject can be inflammatory. Take the time to look at it from a more diplomatic approach… this was advice from a senior co-worker from more than a decade ago, and it still serves me well, personally and professionally.
